• Cub Haunted 2009 - A news article by a Pack 153 Webelos II Scout

  The 2009 Cub Haunted was fun. There was lots of stuff to do. There were slingshots, B.B. guns, and bows and arrows that you could shoot. Slingshots are my favorite. They also had a big inflatable slide and Bounce Around. You could even get a block of wood or piece of leather branded! You could also go on a hayride to get to the haunted trail. That was really scary. The food and cobbler were delicious! There was a huge bonfire and activities too. Then you got to camp out in your tent. The next morning, the Kiwanis Club made pancakes. Those were good too. We also went on a hike to the historical cemetery. That was cool, fun and creepy! I had a very good time at Cub Haunted.    B. H.

• Pack 153 Track and Field Day - Saturday, April 25, 2009
  Scouts enjoyed some friendly competition at the Brooks High School track while learning about different track and field events. Participating scouts earned a medal.
  
  
• Pack 153 Scouts Earn Advancements
  March 21, 2009, saw approximately 40 Tiger and Cub Scouts awarded their Rank Advancements at a evening ceremony held at the Scout Amphitheater at Killen Church of Christ. Two Cub Scouts received the highest advancement award in Cub Scouts, the Arrow of Light!
  Thanks to all the leaders and parents that helped these scouts earn their rank badges earlier than ever before!
  
  
• Pack 153 earns Centennial Unit Award
  Scouts have been presented their 2008 Centennial Unit Award patch to be worn proudly on their right sleeve. Pack 153 met several goals to qualify for this award. Over 60 scouts and a dozen leaders contributed to this accomplishment.

  Pack 153 had twenty-two scouts and fifteen adult volunteers to take part in this year's Summer Camp at Camp Westmoreland, June 9-13, 2008. Scouts completed many requirements, electives, and work toward belt loops and pins, and had lots of fun doing it. Thanks to den leaders who led their scouts at camp as well as several others that stepped up and helped make camp a big success for our Pack and the entire District. About 90 scouts and 35 adults attended the annual Summer Camp.
  Scouts that attended twilight camp can earn their Outdoor Activity Award or Wolf Track pin!   Additional Rank Specific requirements qualify scouts for one of the only achievement patches that can be worn on the Cub Scout uniform. Click Here for More Info
  
  
• District Banquet honors several Pack 153 leaders - Click HERE to view photos.
  The 2007-08 District Banquet was held to honor volunteers across the district for their work done to deliver the scouting programs in Northwest Alabama. Mark Simpson, Charter Organization Representative of Pack 153, received the District's Highest Award, the District Award of Merit, for the volunteer service he has given to the district and the impact he has had on scouting at the local and district level. Other Pack 153 Leaders honored were Russ Foulke, Den Leader Award (2008); Kevin Hunter, Den Leader Award (2007); and Angela Kemp, Tiger Cub Leader Award (2008).

  Thirty-three scouts were honored at Camp Westmoreland on May 16, 2007, as they advance through the Cub Scout program. A night of camping followed with a Saturday morning hike to the War of 1812 Cemetary.

• Arrow of Light Ceremony Saturday, April 5, 2007
  Seven Pack 153 scouts achieved the ultimate in Cub Scouting and were presented the Arrow of Light award in a fireside ceremony at the Pack 153 Amphitheater. All seven bridged into Troop 153. A reception followed.
  
  
• Weather Policy - for meetings and events
  Tornado Watch - If an event start time falls within a Tornado Watch then that event is considered canceled immediately, even if the watch is canceled later. If a watch is issued during an event it is to be ended immediately and parents should return to pick up their child. If a warning is issued during an event then no scout is to leave unless with their parent or with parent permission given directly to a leader.
  Other Weather - If Brooks Elementary closes for a weather related reason then any event that same day is considered canceled.
  Never risk your safety to attend an event and use your best judgment as to your situation.
  
  
• Den Meetings - Every Monday, 6:30 p.m. (with exceptions noted on calendar)
